Heavy rainfall in Kentucky has meant a delay to the start of the highly anticipated Keeneland September Yearling Sale, with the four sessions of Book 1 that begins on Monday now due to start at 1pm local time (6pm BST) each day, instead of the scheduled start time of 11am.
“We want to give buyers sufficient time to inspect the horses in Book 1,” Keeneland vice president of racing and sales Bob Elliston said.
“The current heavy rain is making their work [on Sunday] extremely difficult and putting them behind schedule to review Book 1, which has catalogued 989 horses. This revised start time will allow them to catch up.”
