Almost nothing in the modern world can be said to be certain, save for death, taxes and Galileo being crowned champion sire in Britain and Ireland.

The son of Sadler's Wells has landed the leading sire title 11 times in the last 12 years, often by commanding margins. For example, last year Galileo amassed progeny earnings of £11,945,529 and sired 31 stakes winners.

His nearest pursuer - Sea The Stars, Galileo's half-brother and a high-class stallion in his own right - had a haul of £4,164,792 in progeny earnings and seven stakes-winning sons and daughters.
