Bloodstock speculators are always on the lookout for a youngster who could make significant physical development before being reoffered, receive an eyecatching pedigree update or show themselves in an altogether more favourable light at the breeze-ups.

But at the heart of thoroughbred pinhooking is the same basic principle that underpins the trading of just about any asset, with the aim being to buy low and sell high.

That is precisely what Robbie Mills and Kirsty Milczarek of RMM Bloodstock did with the Awtaad filly out of the Group 3-winning Hawaafez, who was sourced for a mere 2,000gns at the Tattersalls December Yearling Sale.
