Haras du Logis sire Bow Creek supplies breakthrough winner at Baden-Baden
Son of Shamardal stands at Darley's French base for a fee of €4,000
Haras du Logis' first-season sire Bow Creek opened his account at stud on Sunday when What's Up made a winning debut at Baden-Baden.
Sent off second-favourite in a race reduced to a match by three late withdrawls, What's Up took a lead until the final furlong before sticking his head down to gamely deny Surin Beach, a son of Soldier Hollow, by a short head.
The Mario Hofer-trained colt was bred by Patrick Chedeville and is the second foal out of the winning Bahamian Bounty mare Perfect Bounty.
In turn, the dam is out of a half-sister to the Listed Jebel Ali Sprint winner Take Ten and comes from the same family as Horris Hill Stakes scorer Peak To Creek and Japanese Grade 2 victor Mikki Charm.
Hofer purchased What's Up for just €5,000 at the BBAG Yearling Sale.
A smart two-year-old, Bow Creek progressed into a dual Group 2-winning three-year-old, claiming the Celebration Mile and the Clipper Boomerang Mile for Mark Johnston. He later won an Australian Group 2 during a spell with John O'Shea.
The son of Shamardal joined Darley's French roster at Haras du Logis in 2017, where he has been available at a fee of €4,000 since. Bow Creek has 22 juveniles registered according to France Galop records.
