Girls Kick On, purchased by Glenvale Park’s Damien Lane and his father-in-law Bob Law for A$12,000 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, became the first winner for Arrowfield Stud-based freshman sire Scissor Kick in Australia on Friday.

The two-year-old filly, out of the Savabeel mare Placement, took out a five-furlong maiden at Port Macquarie, defeating Bay Of Bengal (by Sepoy) by two and a quarter lengths with Undeniable (by Not A Single Doubt) another length away in third.

Scissor Kick, a son of influential Australian sire Redoute's Choice, was a dual Group 3 winner and ran a close second to Hallowed Crown in the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes.

He stood for a fee of A$11,000 (inc GST) at Arrowfield Stud in 2019.

Scissor Kick shuttles to Haras d’Etreham in Normandy and also has his first northern hemisphere two-year-olds on the ground this year.

According to France Galop, he has 42 juveniles in his debut French-conceived crop.
