Half-brother to Pyledriver to face Dubawi half to Ultra at Wolverhampton
The son of Oasis Dream is the third foal out of the remarkable La Pyle
Another chapter of the hugely popular Pyledriver story is set to start at Wolverhampton on Thursday as the Coronation Cup winner's Oasis Dream half-brother is set to debut in the second division of the 7f maiden (4.05).
Stockpyle is the third foal out of the remarkable La Pyle, a daughter of Le Havre who was a dual winner on the Flat in France for Pia Brandt before being sent hurdling for Philip Hobbs.
A full-sister to Park Express Stakes scorer Normandel and a half-sibling to Grand Prix de Paris victor Helene Charisma, La Pyle's name has been kept in the limelight through Pyledriver, a son of Harbour Watch who was unsold at 10,000gns at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale in 2017.
Pyledriver vindicated that result for the La Pyle Partnership when winning twice at two, including in the Listed Ascendant Stakes, before a fruitful campaign at three that saw him land the King Edward VII Stakes, Great Voltigeur Stakes and finish third in the St Leger.
The four-year-old won his first Group 1 contest earlier this year when battling bravely in the Coronation Cup at Epsom. Having met with a setback, the William Muir and Chris Grassick-trained colt returned to action with success in the Churchill Stakes this month ahead of a trip to Hong Kong.
La Pyle has since visited some of the best stallions in the world, having produced a filly by Frankel last year and a Kingman colt this term. Sadly that colt has since died but she returned to Kingman this season.
Stockpyle is set to face nine rivals at Wolverhampton, every one of whom has some experience, including Silent Speech, Godolphin's Dubawi half-brother to Ultra who was second on his bow at Newmarket, and Badr, a son of Kitten's Joy from the family of Grade 1 winner Winter Memories.
