Tattersalls has released a glittering catalogue for their upcoming December Mares' Sale, featuring five individual Group 1 winners off the track.

The quintet are the racing jewels of the Sceptre Sessions, a new section introduced to the sale for this year which showcases the highest calibre fillies and mares on sale in Europe, and takes place during selling on Monday and Tuesday, November 28 and 29.

They are led by the four-time Group 1 winner Alcohol Free, who added this year's July Cup to her previous victories in the Sussex Stakes, Coronation Stakes and Cheveley Park Stakes. She is joined in the sale by dual Group 1 winner Saffron Beach, a daughter of New Bay who was trained by Jane Chapple Hyam to win the Sun Chariot Stakes in 2021 and the Prix Rothschild this season.

Paddy Twomey's star mares La Petite Coco and Pearls Galore, victorious in the Pretty Polly and Matron Stakes respectively, are two more gems in the sceptre sessions while the fifth Group 1 winner is Winter Power, successful in the 2021 Nunthorpe Stakes for Tim Easterby and King Power Racing.

The broodmare jewel in the crown is Desert Berry, the 13-year-old dam of this season's unbeaten Derby hero Desert Crown. Strawberry Fields Stud, who bred the son of Nathaniel, offers Desert Berry in foal and carrying a full sibling to Sir Michael Stoute's Epsom victor.

She is joined in the sale by the dams of two recent Group 1 winners; Acorn Stud consigns Group 3 winner Roger Sez, dam of Lezoo who became Zoustar's first European-bred Group 1 winner when successful in the Cheveley Park Stakes last month, and Luzia whose three-year-old daughter Fonteyn sprung a surprise in the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket.

The dispersal of Philippa Cooper's Normandie Stud through Newsells Park's consignment is another feature of the sale. One of the highlights is the sale of Cooper's Group 1 Nassau Stakes winner Sultanina in foal to Camelot.

Five Group and Listed winners raced by Cooper from her excellent families of Fallen Star, Foodbroker Fancy and Dolores, and in foal to elite sires such as Frankel and Sea The Stars will offered during the Sceptre Sessions.

Tweenhills Farm consigns a draft of 44 fillies and mares to the December Sale with Group 1 St Leger and British Champions Fillies' and Mares' Stakes heroine Simple Verse an eye-catching name.

The ten-year-old Duke Of Marmalade mare is offered in foal to Too Darn Hot. Qatar Racing's Group 2 May Hill Stakes winner and Group 3 winners Kiyoshi and Purr Along are all offered by Tweenhills, in foal to resident sire and 2,000 Guineas winner Kameko whose first foals will be selling shortly.

Edmond Mahony, chairman of Tattersalls, said: "The Sceptre Sessions, named after one of the greatest fillies ever to grace the turf, were introduced to showcase the very best race fillies and broodmares and to add a new dimension to the Tattersalls December Mares Sale which is long established as the most prestigious and influential breeding stock sale in Europe.

"To have catalogued five truly exceptional Group 1 winning fillies as well as the dam of this year’s Derby winner Desert Crown is the best possible start and suggests that the new ’Sceptre Sessions’ have immediately captured the imagination of some of the world’s most successful owners and breeders.

"In addition to the array of elite fillies and broodmares in the two ‘Sceptre Sessions’, the Tattersalls December Mares Sale also features consignments of real quality from Godolphin, Juddmonte Farms, and Shadwell Estates alongside dispersals from Normandie and Southcourt Studs, all of which has combined to produce an outstanding catalogue for Europe’s premier sale of breeding stock."

The sale takes place from Monday November 28 to Thursday December 1 and the entire catalogue can be viewed here.
