Chelmsford on Good Friday is set to play host to rivalry between the top British trainers as John and Thady Gosden and Sir Michael Stoute take the wraps off two eyecatching newcomers in the maiden contest.

The Gosdens saddle two, including the unraced Shamardal colt Black Cyclone. By the late Shamardal and a 200,000gns purchase from Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale in 2019, he was bred by Rabbah Bloodstock and sold to the Doyles from Houghton Bloodstock.

Owned by Hamad Rashed bin Ghedayer, the three-year-old is out of Al Mahmeyah - a half-sister to the stakes-placed Spirit Of Pearl - and is a half-brother to Prix d'Arenberg victor Afandem and the Group 3-placed Sky Defender.

The King Power-owned Delightsnsurprises, a €380,000 purchase from the Goffs Orby Sale in 2019, is the unraced representative from Stoute's yard.

Bred by Crosshaven Bloodstock, the son of Street Sense is out of an unraced half-sister to an American stakes winner in Snapdragon.

The seven-year-old is herself out of a two-year-old Listed-winning half-sister to Grade 2 winner Seeking Regina - the second dam of the high-flying young sire Nyquist.

Delightsnsurprises was a $70,000 purchase by J B Bloodstock from Paramount Sales at the 2018 Kentucky November Sale.

Cork and Musselburgh, meanwhile, are set to host the next juvenile contests of the season on Saturday.

Among the four runners in the opening five-furlong contest at Musselburgh are two-year-olds by first-season sire Cotai Glory (Atomic Force) and an Excelebration half-brother to Listed winner and Group 2-placed Time Shanakill (The Gatekeeper).

Cork's two-year-old maiden includes representatives from Ireland's powerhouse stables, including Aidan O'Brien, who saddles No Nay Never colt Cadamosto - a £130,000 purchase from Goffs Orby and from the family of Irish Oaks heroine Dance Design - the Ger Lyons-trained Jarvis, a son of first-season sire Profitable, and Jessica Harrington's Dream Oasis, a son of Oasis Dream who hails from the family of Chimes Of Freedom.
