Goffs UK announces return of Spring Sale Bumper with new £100,000 prize fund
The valuable race also comes with the new Bumper Bonus scheme
Goffs UK has announced the return of the Spring Sale Bumper at Newbury next year, a contest which will have an increased prize fund of £100,000 as well as the introduction of the new Bumper Bonus prize scheme.
Likely to take place on Saturday, March 25 - subject to confirmation of the 2023 fixtures list by the BHA - the prize-money has doubled from £50,000, while the Bumper Bonus will see Goffs UK extend their partnership with leading horse box manufacturer Theault and award the winning trainer a free six-month lease of a two-stall horse box.
The Bumper Bonus will also award the vendor of the winning horse a bespoke wine package from Charles Murphy Wines.
Goffs UK managing director Tim Kent said: “Increasing the Spring Sale Bumper to £100,000 has been an ambition of ours for some time and we would like to extend our thanks to Julian Thick and the Newbury racecourse executive for helping us to make this happen.
"We had our best ever Spring Store Sale last year and we felt now is the ideal time to invest more in the race and give our buyers a big pot to aim their purchases at.
“The bumper has always been very well supported throughout its history and we hope that the new £100,000 prize fund, plus the Bumper Bonus incentives from Theault and Charles Murphy Wines, will make for a very attractive race next year.”
Julian Thick, chief executive at Newbury, added: “We're really delighted to be able to host the return of the new and improved Goffs UK Spring Sale Bumper, at the increased £100,000 prize fund.
"This is a significant injection of prize-money for the race and, with Goffs as valuable partners, we are committed to working alongside them to raise the profile of this highly valuable race and our final jumps fixture of the season in 2023.”
