Goffs initiates changes to avoid programme clashes

Goffs has responded to recent feedback regarding fixture clashes by announcing several important changes to its sales programme.

The Goffs UK Doncaster September Sale has been expanded to accommodate a new yearling session, and will be rebranded as the September HIT & Yearling Sale.

Its opening day on September 17 will be dedicated to yearlings, with horses in training sent through the ring a day later. It means that the Doncaster Autumn Sale, held in late October, will no longer hold its traditional yearling session, avoiding a category clash with the Arqana October Yearling Sale. It will now be a one-day horses in training and point-to-point event on Thursday October 24.

The Goffs Autumn Yearling & HIT Sale will return to its traditional slot with a two-day sale between October 21 and 22, as opposed to early November, avoiding clashes with the Breeders’ Cup and the November sales in Kentucky.

Goffs group chief executive Henry Beeby said: "Feedback from vendors and purchasers alike last year prompted a review of our autumn dates on both sides of the Irish Sea.

"We are committed to providing attractive, low cost outlets for yearling vendors at the commercial end of the market whilst the Goffs HIT Sale definitely suffered last year with its proximity to events in the USA.

"At the same time the Doncaster September HIT Sale is already well supported with major consignments so the addition of a yearling session will ensure exposure for those yearlings to the sale’s existing buyers"
