Among the mares received by New Approach when he stood for a career-high fee of £80,000 in 2014 and 2015 was Oaks heroine Dancing Rain, who had been purchased by John Ferguson on behalf of Godolphin for an eyewatering 4,000,000gns at the 2013 Tattersalls December Sale.

It was a strong vote of confidence in the son of Galileo, whose studmate Dubawi had seen his fee rise to six figures in 2014.

Dancing Rain's second foal since that purchase, a New Approach filly named Magic Lily, has shown the classy type of individual the mare is able to produce.

Trained by Charlie Appleby, Magic Lily first appeared in a Newmarket novice stakes last September as a juvenile, scorching clear to win by eight lengths in a performance described by Racing Post analysis as a "hugely impressive win".

Her only other start saw her finish third to Laurens in the Fillies' Mile and she looks an exciting broodmare prospect for Sheikh Mohammed's operation.

Dancing Rain's third foal, a New Approach colt named Jalmoud also trained by Appleby, will make his first appearance in a 1m2f maiden stakes at Newcastle on Thursday (2.55), and will be ridden by James Doyle.

Jalmoud has more than one Classic winner on his page, with Dancing Rain a three-parts sister to Listed-winning sprinter Sumora, granddam of this year's 2,000 Guineas hero Saxon Warrior.

What is more, Dancing Rain's unraced dam Rain Flower is a three-parts sister to the 1992 Derby winner Dr Devious.

Jalmoud is not the only interesting Appleby-trained newcomer in the Godolphin blue, however, with - the mount of Jack Mitchell - a Dubawi grandson of another Oaks winner in Kazzia, who also annexed the 1,000 Guineas in 2002.

Among their rivals isRed Centre, who was one of the first yearlings by Coolmore sires to be purchased at public auction by Godolphin since they ended their self-imposed boycott last year, when the colt was hammered down for $300,000.

The son of Australia races in the colours of Princess Haya and was third on his Haydock debut for John Gosden.

Dancing Rain was purchased carrying to Frankel and delivered a filly foal the following spring. Exported to France in 2016, the filly - named Rainswept - did not see a racecourse and later returned to Britain, visiting Iffraaj for her maiden covering this spring.

Dancing Rain also has a yearling Dubawi filly and visited Galileo this year.
