Gleneagles continued his upwardly mobile start to 2021 when his daughter, Novemba, ran out a hugely impressive winner of the German 1,000 Guineas at Dusseldorf on Sunday.

A homebred of Gestut Brummerhof, the three-year-old strode fully seven and a half lengths clear of Godolphin's Sky Angel, with Belcarra - bred by County Wicklow-based Oliver O'Connor - a neck back in third.

In doing so, Novemba provided her sire with his fourth individual Group 2 winner after Royal Lytham, Royal Dornoch and this season's Prix Greffulhe scorer Baby Rider.

The Peter Schiergen-trained Novemba, who was second in last season's Preis der Winterkonigin, is out of the stakes-winning Dubai Destination mare Nevada, a half-sister to triple German Group winner and Guineas second Nordico, a son of Medicean, and Listed victor Nordic Flight, by the late German sire Adlerflug.

Gleneagles, a son of perennial champion sire Galileo and the brilliant You'resothrilling - a full-sister to the mighty Giant's Causeway and the dam of fellow top-level heroines Marvellous and Happily - has been in fine form this term.

Having retired to Coolmore after victories in the National Stakes, the Newmarket and Irish 2,000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes, he has sired seven individual Group winners overall.

He has two stallion sons to represent him in Royal Lytham and Royal Ascot-winning juvenile Southern Hills, while his Highland Chief could bid to provide him with a maiden Group 1 success in Friday's Coronation Cup at Epsom.

It was also a highly significant moment as Novemba's rider, Sibylle Vogt, became the first female jockey to win any Classic that is part of the European Pattern - so any of the Classics in Britain, Ireland, France, Germany or Italy.

Jin Jin, daughter of Canford Cliffs, maintained her unbeaten record when landing the Group 2 Grosser Aengevelt Immobilien-Preis - Badener Meile for Andreas Suborics and owner Frau Sabine Goldberg.

The five-year-old struck in the Group 3 Prix Perth when trained by Bohumil Nedorostek, as well as two Listed German contests, and is the fifth foal out of the placed Okawango mare Josphiel, a half-sister to the Tim Easterby-trained Cheveley Park third Good Girl.

Bred by Nanallac Stud, Jin Jin was picked up for just €4,000 at Goffs when selling to Sabine Goldberg from her breeder.
