Gerardo Torres to join Arqana as its Spanish representative
Gerardo Torres has succeeded Jaime Parejo as the Spanish representative of Arqana.
The 49-year-old, who holds a degree in journalism and a masters in sports management, has worked in the media as well as being appointed director of racing at the Hippodrome de la Zarzuela in Madrid.
Also a member of the Spanish Jockey Club Committee from 2015 to 2018, Torres has tasted success as the owner of the useful Ariete Arrollador as well as being the breeder of Spanish Oaks winners such as Opikkopi and Noctalia.
"It is a great honour for me to represent an internationally renowned company that is Arqana, whose name is associated with excellence," Torres said.
"I hope to be as good as my predecessor and friend, Jaime Parejo, in order to strengthen the ties between the Spanish market and Arqana, whose sales are a great opportunity to enrich our racing and breeding with quality horses and to find the champions of tomorrow. With this in mind, I am already at the disposal of Spanish breeders and owners in order to give them all the help they need."
Eric Hoyeau, president of Arqana, added: "Spain is a nation of top-level sportsmen and aficionados. Their racing history has always been full of twists and turns over the years, so it was essential for Arqana to be represented by someone who knows the different decades of the turf.
"Spanish racing continues to grow and we are delighted to welcome Gerardo to our network of correspondents to accompany us there."
