From six-figure yearlings to a jumping superstar sibling

It is nearly impossible to keep tabs on all the action across the Christmas period and a few interesting animals are sure to slip through the net. The five horses below, however, could all be individuals to note for the pedigree enthusiast.

Mystify Me (4.35 Wolverhampton, Saturday)

Fig Roll was a speedy Listed-winning two-year-old from a fine, fast family and her first progeny have shown ability too. The Simon and Ed Crisford team know her second foal particularly well as Al Raya, the £450,000 top lot at the 2018 Goffs UK Breeze-Up Sale, went on to claim Group 3 honours for the yard and was Listed placed a couple of times this year.

Mystify Me, her Muhaarar half-sister, had also been entered for the breeze-ups by the same consignors, Longways Stables, having fetched £170,000 as a yearling at Goffs.

He appears to have found his way to the Crisford stable privately and although making his debut very late in the year, Jack Mitchell has been booked for the mount and he should not need to be in the same bracket as his sibling to get off the mark.

Go Sacre Go(12.40 Kempton, Saturday)

A race Nicky Henderson has won in three of the last five renewals, including with recent Peterborough Chase winner Mister Fisher and a little-known jumper named Altior.

Go Sacre Go shares his pedigree with another Henderson great, Sprinter Sacre, as he is by the same late sire, Network, out of a half-sister to the two-mile king.

Last week, Go Sacre Go's full-brother Emir Sacree won at Ascot on his debut for Henderson, having shown some useful form for his owner-breeder Graham Porter at Auteuil.

The younger sibling made an undistinguished debut in France, finishing pulled up more than a year ago on his sole start, but would be very dangerous to discount.

Premier Queen (3.42 Limerick, Saturday)

Prunella Dobbs has only a few runners at her Wicklow stable and, although not often among the winners, looks to have an interesting filly on her hands.

The daughter of Presenting is only the second foal to race out of Premier Victory, who won back-to-back Grade 3 novice hurdles for Tom Hogan.

Her first foal is full-sister Darling Daughter, who landed a bumper at Limerick's Christmas meeting this time last year on her debut for Gordon Elliott and went on to take a Grade 2 at Leopardstown in February before finishing mid-division in the Champion Bumper. Unlike Darling Daughter, Premier Queen has not gone down the point-to-point route first but is one worthy of a second look.

Trebizond (12.05 Leopardstown, Sunday)

Hails from one of the most talked-about Flat families in recent months, which goes some way towards explaining why he was bought for 300,000gns at Book 1 a couple of years ago.

Trebizond, by Golden Horn, is a half-brother to Group winners Joviality and Bonfire and, more significantly, to Beach Frolic, the dam of champion miler Palace Pier who was sold for 2,200,000gns to MV Magnier as part of the Floors dispersal at Tattersalls.

As Trebizond was bought for £34,000 at Goffs in the summer, it appears that everything has not been plain sailing with the gelding, but he could not be in better hands than with Henry de Bromhead to turn around his fortunes.

(3.35 Leopardstown, 3.55 Limerick, Monday)

It is to be expected that Willie Mullins will unveil a potent bumper performer over the next few days, with the likes of the already experienced Ramillies and Cool Jet, from the family of Cousin Vinny, looking likely types.

Whatdeawant represents powerful connections in Sean Mulryan and wife Bernadine, and was bought as a store by Ronnie O'Leary for €62,000 last year.

The four-year-old has two useful siblings on his page in the ill-fated Sangha River, who rose through the novice ranks for Olly Murphy, and Gordon Elliott's Hardline, who won a Grade 1 novice chase at Limerick two years ago and remained competitive at the top level.

There are other winners in the family and even his dam, Hidden Reserve, obliged on her only bumper start.
