Telemaque, a son of War Front who had shown some useful form for Andre Fabre and Godolphin in France, topped Saturday's Racing in Dubai Sale when making AED825,000 (approx £163,000/€192,000) to local trainer Satish Seemar of Zabeel Stables.

He was one of 41 to go through the ring at the NOFA Meydan quarantine stables, with Tattersalls' John O’Kelly and Yasir Mabrouk of the Emirates Racing Authority presiding over an auction of ex-Godolphin horses who should produce runners for smaller owners during the forthcoming season in the UAE.

Telemaque won a mile maiden at Compiegne last October and had been running in conditions events as a four-year-old this spring.

A figure of AED520,000 was achieved by Royal Mews, who ran for John and Thady Gosden. The Siyouni gelding was also a maiden winner last year and, like the sale-topper, was signed for by Seemar.

Al Nefud, a beautifully bred son of Dubawi and placed in all three starts for Charlie Appleby, was the third best seller on the day at AED425,000 and was also snapped up by the Zabeel Stables trainer.
