Pedigree pundits should make sure they catch the 1m3f maiden for unraced three-year-old colts and geldings at Fontainebleau on Wednesday (3.55 local time, 2.55 BST) as it features the debut of the first foal out of an outstanding racemare.

Offset Guilt is a son of Galileo and Flotilla trained by Mikel Delzangles for Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani – the same connections behind the Breeders' Cup and Classic-winning dam.

Flotilla, a daughter of Mizzen Mast, was bought by Hubie de Burgh for €120,000 at the Arqana August Yearling Sale of 2011 on behalf of Edward Swyer.

After winning a Clairefontaine maiden and running a close fourth in the Prix Marcel Boussac she was sold to the Qatari royal, and carried his silks to win the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.

Flotilla beat 19 rivals, including the high-class Esoterique into second, in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches on her three-year-old bow.

She failed to recapture that form during her Classic season, finishing down the field in the Prix de Diane and Prix du Moulin, but she put up two good runs at the following year's Dubai Carnival and World Cup night, finishing second in the Balanchine and third in the Godolphin Mile, before she was retired to stud.

Flotilla is out of the Group 3-winning Sinndar mare Louvain, a half-sister to Haydock Sprint Cup winner G Force.

The mare has a two-year-old colt by Oasis Dream, also with Delzangles, and a yearling colt by Dubawi. She was covered by Dubawi again last year.

A well-bred rival to Offset Guilt is Blazing World, a Medaglia D'Oro colt out of Bellasimo, an unraced Speightstown half-sister to Breeders' Cup Juvenile and Kentucky Derby hero Street Sense. He is trained by Andre Fabre for Godolphin.

Fantastic fillies

The Aga Khan is set to be represented in the fillies' version of the race that Offset Guilt contests – a 1m3f race for female newcomers at 3.20 local time (2.20 BST) – by two beautifully bred homebred runners.

Shalla, trained by Delzangles, is by Redoute's Choice out of Prix de l'Opera heroine and Prix Ganay runner-up Shalanaya.

Shomaria, to be saddled by Alain de Royer-Dupre, is a daughter of Exceed And Excel and dual Group 3 scorer Shemima.

In the same heat, the Niarchos family and Coolmore are the co-owners of Galactical, a Galileo filly out of Synchronic, an unraced Dansili sister to Listed scorer Prudenzia – dam of Irish Oaks heroine Chicquita and Friday's Investec Oaks hopeful Magic Wand.

Precocious pedigrees

Speed is of the essence in the 5f maiden fillies' stakes for two-year-olds that kicks off Wednesday's card at Nottingham (2.20).

Most eye-catching among the newcomers is Heartwarming, a Showcasing half-sister to last year's Queen Mary Stakes and Flying Childers Stakes winner Heartache.

Racecard: 2.20 Nottingham

She represents the same breeder, owner and trainer combination as Heartache – Whitsbury Manor Stud, Hot to Trot Racing and Clive Cox.

Another in the race, Richard Fahey's Kodyanna, is a Kodiac half-sister to the trainer's Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy winner of 2017, Darkanna.

Fellow debutante Little Kim, from Karl Burke's stable, is by first-season sire Garswood and is a half-sister to Out Of The Flames, who finished third to Heartache in the Queen Mary Stakes.
