Five obscure stallions whose progeny could shine a rare light at Cheltenham

A number of sires have stamped their class on the Cheltenham Festival over the past ten years, with King's Theatre, Robin Des Champs, Oscar and Presenting recording 47 progeny wins between them.

But there have also been plenty of less heralded sires who have come up trumps with a winner at the biggest jumps meeting of the year.

Think of Visionary, a Linamix stallion who supplied the 2015 Cross Country Chase scorer Rivage D'Or at a price of 16-1, or Special Kaldoun, a son of Alzao whose son Bleu Berry landed the 2018 Coral Cup at odds of 20-1.
