First start for Many Clouds' three-parts brother Oscar Clouds
Five-year-old declared for novice hurdle at Musselburgh on Tuesday
Oscar Clouds, a brother to dual Grade 1 hurdle winner The Tullow Tank and three-parts brother to Grand National hero Many Clouds, will face his first racecourse test when lining up in the 2m4f novice hurdle at Musselburgh on Tuesday ().
The five-year-old Oscar gelding is the only newcomer in the 12-runner field and is trained by Keith Dalgleish for Straightline Bloodstock, having been sourced by bloodstock agent Tom Malone for €55,000 from Lough Na Sollis Stud at the 2018 Tattersalls August National Hunt Sale, where he featured among the top ten lots.
Oscar Clouds was bred by Aidan Aherne out of the Bob Back mare Bobbing Back, also the mother of Royal Bond Novice Hurdle scorer The Tullow Tank and the late, great Many Clouds.
In addition to his Aintree heroics in 2015, Many Clouds was also successful in the 2014 Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury and landed two runnings of the Grade 2 Cotswold Chase at Cheltenham, though he sadly died from a severe pulmonary haemorrhage in the aftermath of his brave win over Thistlecrack in 2017.
Bobbing Back also has a three-year-old Milan filly named Heavenly Clouds, who went the way of Gerry Hogan Bloodstock for €46,000 as a foal at the 2017 Goffs December Sale, and a yearling filly by Yeats.
