Tara Stud's Estidhkaar was provided with his first Group winner at Cologne on Sunday, when Belcarra added the Group 3 Karin Baronin von Ullmann - Schwarzgold to last year's Listed Hanover success.

Bred by Olive O'Connor, the three-year-old was a 14,500gns purchase from the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze-Up last year and is the 11th foal out of Bellacoola.

Belcarra was one of the outsiders in the nine-runner field for the mile contest under Martin Seidl, for trainer Markus Klug and owner Ulrich Zerrath, but prevailed by half a length in a driving finish from Wismar.

She is a half-sister to five winners, including the black-type performers Prinzde Glas and Winiata, while her dam - a daughter of Lomitas - is related to two German Group 3 winners in Budai and Bernardon.

Estidhkaar, a son of Dark Angel and the unraced Danetime mare Danetime Out, was bred by BEC Bloodstock and sold to Peter and Ross Doyle for £200,000 at the 2013 Doncaster August.

A half-brother to National Stakes hero and Lockinge runner-up Toormore, he won four of his ten starts for Richard Hannon, notably the Champagne and Superlative Stakes, while he was also fourth to Belardo in the Dewhurst and runner-up in the Greenham to Muhaarar.

He retired to Tara Stud in 2017 and has sired the winners of 17 races and £148,731 in prize-money. He stands for a fee of €5,000.
