Familiar face Canford Cliffs among sires represented at Cape Yearling Sale
Catalogue online now for perusal of the 189 lots up for grabs next month
The catalogue for Bloodstock South Africa's Cape Yearling Sale is now online, and can be viewed at www.bsa.co.za.
One of South Africa's best value for money thoroughbred auctions, the Cape Yearling Sale has unleashed a string of top prospects over the years, with the list of high-class thoroughbreds offered for sale at this auction a lengthy one.
The Group 1 Daily News 2000-winning Surcharge, who would go on to win the Group 1 Kennedy Cantala in Australia under the name of Yulong Prince, heads the list of recent star thoroughbreds who have been offered for sale at previous renewals of the Cape Sale.
Other notable horses sold at recent editions of the Cape Yearling Sale include Drakenstein Stud's promising young sire Gold Standard (himself represented by five lots at the 2021 Cape Sale), and fellow graded stakes winners Doosra, Elusive Heart, Final Judgement, Green Pepper, Hack Green and Princess Peach.
Once again, the Cape Yearling Sale will be held at the Mistico Equestrian Centre, with the sale set to take place on February 28. In total, 189 horses have been catalogued for the sale, with the majority of the Cape's top farms represented.
Successful sires represented at this year's Cape Yearling Sale, many of whom will be familiar to British and Irish breeders and racefans, include Count Dubois, Duke Of Marmalade, Elusive Fort, Flower Alley, Gimmethegreenlight (whose progeny include the aforementioned Surcharge), Ideal World, Judpot, Master Of My Fate, Oratorio, Pathfork, Philanthropist, Pomodoro, Querari, Silvano, Trippi, Twice Over, Vercingetorix, Visionaire and What A Winter.
There is also an exciting list of stallions with their first local yearlings on offer at the 2021 Cape Yearling Sale, namely Canford Cliffs, Erupt, Gold Standard and Royal Mo.
