Exciting debut for Polydream's half-sister Big Brothers Pride
Daughter of Invincible Spirit wins by two lengths at Chantilly
Big Brothers Pride, an Invincible Spirit half-sister to this season's Prix Maurice de Gheest heroine Polydream, looks a name to note after winning by two lengths in the Prix des Terroirs de France, a 6f maiden for unraced two-year-olds at Chantilly, on Tuesday.
The filly is trained by Francois Rohaut for Kin Hung Kei and Qatar Racing, having been purchased by Meridian International and David Redvers for €400,000 at last year's Arqana August Yearling Sale.
The partnership of owners has enjoyed plenty of success with its joint purchases in recent weeks.
Furious, an Oasis Dream half-sister to Lily's Angel and Zurigha sourced at Tattersalls October Book 1 for 340,000gns, landed a Chelmsford novice stakes by nearly three lengths on Saturday, while Sparkle Roll, a Kingman half-sister to Wings Of Eagles bought for €750,000, stormed to a wide-margin victory on her second start at Haydock last month.
Big Brothers Pride looks another star two-year-old this year for Irish National Stud stalwart Invincible Spirit to go with Listed winners Indigo Balance and Lethal Promise as well as the Group-placed Ecolo, Fantasy, Magna Grecia and Spirit Of Brittany.
She was bred by Ecurie des Monceaux, Framont Limited and Beauregard Bloodstock as she was being carried in-utero when those present owners bought her dam, the Listed-winning Green Tune mare Polygreen, from the Wertheimer brothers for €200,000 at the Arqana December Breeding-Stock Sale in 2015.
Big Brothers Pride is the last foal of Polygreen registered with France Galop and her dam is listed as having 'left stud' this year by Weatherbys.
Polygreen hails from a fine Wertheimer family. She had already produced Listed winner and Group 2-placed Evaporation for the brothers, before the emergence of Polydream – last seen getting no luck in running when seventh in the Prix de la Foret this month.
The dam is out of the Listed-winning Sillery mare Yxenery, who was a daughter of the Listed-winning Lyphard mare Polyxena. In turn, Polyxena was out of the Group 1-placed Luthier mare Minstrel Girl.
Big Brothers Pride is bred on a fruitful cross, as Cheveley Park Stakes winner Rosdhu Queen and the stakes-winning siblings Impassable and Foreign Tune are also by Invincible Spirit out of Green Tune mares.
