A high-class catalogue for the inaugural Dubai Breeze-Up Sale in association with Goffs has been released, with 72 two-year-olds by the cream of international sires.

The sale takes place in the parade ring at Meydan racecourse on the evening of Wednesday, March 23, as part of the build-up to the staging of the Dubai World Cup meeting on the Saturday.

Established elite stallions from around the globe including Curlin, Dark Angel, Dubawi, Frankel, Hard Spun, Into Mischief, Kingman, Kitten's Joy, Lope De Vega, More Than Ready, Siyouni, Uncle Mo and Wootton Bassett are all represented.

Exciting young sires such as American Pharoah, Gun Runner, Mehmas, Mendelssohn and Night Of Thunder all have entries as well, as does unbeaten Triple Crown winner Justify, who has a filly and a colt from his first crop in the catalogue.

As befits such a collection of sire power, the pedigrees on offer at the first Dubai Breeze-Up Sale include a Daiwa Major half-brother to the Listed winners and Group 1 performers September and Willow out of champion Peeping Fawn.

There is a Maclean's Music half-brother to the Grade 1 winners Majestic Harbour and Danza, as well as a Kitten's Joy three-parts brother to Hawkbill.

Other highlights include a Dark Angel half-brother to the dam of multiple Group 1 winner Tarnawa and a Sea The Moon filly closely related to Stradivarius.

All of the UK and Ireland's leading breeze-up consignors have entered horses for the sale, and the breeze will take place on the training track at Meydan on the Tuesday morning, March 22.

Speaking about the sale, which is the first of its type to be held in the Middle-East, Sheikh Rashid bin Dalmook Al Maktoum, chairman of the Dubai Racing Club, said: “Dubai has always pioneered new concepts across many fields in the region, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice-president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai.

"Horseracing has always been a part of the DNA of Dubai, which makes us proud to introduce the Dubai Breeze-Up Sale, offering a collection of outstandingly bred individuals, many of whom are by some of the world’s leading stallions and are related to horses who thrived in this region.

"They are a strong bunch of young horses which we will have the pleasure of seeing in action during the breeze, taking place on our training track at Meydan days before the 26th edition of the Dubai World Cup."

Henry Beeby, group CEO of Goffs, praised the efforts of his team and the consignors who are wholeheartedly supportive of the venture.

"Breeze-up vendors embraced this sale with great enthusiasm from the outset and have worked with the Goffs selection team, led by Nick Nugent and Tom Taaffe, to assemble a superb group of two-year-olds that will appeal to leading buyers in the Middle East and around the world,” he said.

"We wish to express our thanks once more to Sheikh Rashid bin Dalmook Al Maktoum and everyone at the Dubai Racing Club for this great opportunity to partner on this sale. We are proud of the trust placed in the Goffs' service and are delighted to have compiled a catalogue that more than befits the occasion."

Those wishing to bid, whether in person or online, will be required to register in advance of the sale with the Dubai Racing Club. Details of how to do so will be announced later this month.
