Dubawi colt Motazzen shines in easy debut victory at Saint-Cloud

Dubawi colt Motazzen looked to have the brightest of futures as he ran out the ready winner of a newcomers' event over an extended mile and a quarter at Saint-Cloud on Monday.
The Shadwell homebred is the second foal of Teofilo mare Yaazy, who was also not seen until her three-year-old seaason, winning a Listed race at the same track and twice being Group-placed in France during a light career for John Hammond and the late Hamdan Al Maktoum.
Yaazy is a daughter of the brilliant producer Tanaghum and a sibling to three other black-type performers headed by Andrew Balding's Bangkok and the late Matterhorn.
Her first foal, Raany, was also trained in France and finished second in a maiden at Agen on his only start last October.
The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained Motazzen, who does not have any fancy entries yet, made all the running in the Prix Mississipian under Cristian Demuro and was completely untroubled to score by four and a half lengths from Wootton Bassett gelding Larchamp.
Gerard Augustin Normand, who owned the runner-up, had a better result in the equivalent event for fillies as Demuro then helped Harcanville to take the Prix Producer.
The Le Havre filly is the third foal and the first to have raced out of his winning Hurricane Run mare Hallotiere.
