Nottingham's EBF Stallions Golden Horn Maiden Stakes (1.05) has been won by some top-class performers in recent years.

As its name rather blatantly suggests, they include Derby and Arc hero Golden Horn, while 12 months ago Adayar surged to success before going on to victories in the Derby and King George this term.

In this year's renewal of a maiden always worth watching, Godolphin are represented by six runners, including Charlie Appleby's Kalahari Prince, a homebred New Approach half-brother to stakes winner Duneflower and out of Rockfel Stakes third Desert Blossom, a daughter of Shamardal.

The in-form trainer will also saddle Untold Mystery, a son of Dubawi and a half-brother to three black-type performers, including Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere victor Royal Marine and multiple UAE Group winner Secret Ambition.

Saeed bin Suroor is double handed with Island Falcon, an Iffraaj colt from the family of Australian Group 1 winner Anamoe who was third on his debut at Goodwood this month, and Army Sergeant, another by Iffraaj and out of a winning half-sister to the trainer's beloved Rio De La Plata, also a particular favourite of Frankie Dettori.

Godolphin's team is completed by the Gosdens' Honiton, a Dark Angel half-brother to two winners including Molecomb Stakes scorer Yalta, and Rockfire, a Sea The Stars full-brother to Nad Al Sheba Trophy third Brilliant Light among three individual winners.

Another eyecatching runner in the 17-strong field on Wednesday is King Eagle, Lady Bamford's Frankel half-brother to the useful Magical Morning and out of Park Hill Stakes winner and Oaks third The Lark, a Pivotal half-sister Eagle Top and Wings Of Desire and from the family of dual Oaks heroine Sariska.

Hughie Morrison's Percy Jones could easily improve on his debut third as a son of Sir Percy and out of an unraced Nayef full-sister to Prix de l'Opera heroine Lady Marian, herself the dam of the smart Loxley.

Across the Irish Sea, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden (5.00) at Dundalk also contains a number of extremely well-bred runners, such as Newfoundland, Coolmore's full-brother to this season's triple Oaks winner Snowfall, and Trent, a Juddmonte homebred son of Kantharos and out of a winning Galileo half-sister to Cheveley Park and 1,000 Guineas winner Special Duty plus Exemplify, the dam of Expert Eye.
