Charming Thought fielded his first winner when Alicestar ran out a smooth winner of the 6f Southwold Novice Auction Stakes at Yarmouth on Wednesday.

The David Simcock-trained filly races for the Tick Tock Partnership and was ridden on her debut by Tom Marquand.

The filly was bred by Lordship Stud and is one of four winners from as many runners out of the Shamardal mare Atheera, a granddaughter of the 1994 Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Mehthaaf.

Alicestar is another example of Robson Aguiar finding the right raw materials for the two-year-old sales, having cost the breeze-up pro £10,000 at the Ascot Yearling Sale. Aguiar also pinhooked Summer Sands and prepared The Lir Jet for the breeze-up sales.

Charming Thought earned a place on the Dalham Hall Stud roster by winning the Middle Park Stakes, and his stood his fourth season there this year at a £4,000 fee.

The son of Oasis Dream hails from the same family as Racing Post Trophy winner Aristotle and middle-distance Group 1 winner Ballingarry, while his 625,000gns price tag as a yearling pays testament to his good looks.

Charming Thought looks to have another smart prospect to his name in Charterhouse, who was a promising second to Kingman colt Masen on his debut at Leopardstown, when he finished ahead of a whole host of blue-blooded juveniles.
