Turmoil and uncertainty that has followed in the wake of the EU referendum vote is bound to have an impact on the British breeding industry - and ignorance will be one of the key challenges to be faced as the repercussions are played out across Europe.

Those were among the chief messages outlined by Thoroughbred Breeders' Association chairman Julian Richmond-Watson when he addressed members at their annual general meeting in the Jockey Club Rooms in Newmarket on Tuesday.

“None of us can predict the outcome of Brexit but there are undoubtedly going to be challenges over legislation, taxation and horse movements,” he said. “Uncertainty is never good for markets and bloodstock cannot be immune from that uncertainty.
