Cascadian became New Approach's ninth worldwide Group 1 winner as Godolphin's European export formed part of a red-letter day for the operation at Randwick.

The James Cummings-trained six-year-old took leading honours in the Doncaster Mile while stablemate Annamoe (Street Boss) carried the blue silks for victory in the Inglis Sires', a seven-furlong juvenile Group 1 prize.

New Approach's son Dawn Approach got in on the act for both trainer and owner by claiming the Group 2 Kindergarten Stakes through Paulele.

Cascadian, who is out of Godolphin's UAE Oaks winner Falls Of Lora, began his career with Andre Fabre and was deprived by a whisker by Intellogent in the 2018 Prix Jean Prat. He moved to the Cummings stable and claimed last year's Group 3 Doncaster Prelude and was also beaten a head by Yulong Prince in the Group 1 Cantala.

Cascadian's prominent white face, matched with corresponding cap, could be seen from some way out as jockey Jamie Kah looked for room and flashed down the middle of the track with perfect timing to pip Icebath on the line.

Cummings was full of praise for Kah, who has taken the Melbourne circuit by storm over the last few months. Of Cascadian, he told Sky Racing: "The team have done a magnificent job to keep this horse nice and lean, internationally they sent the horse from Andre Fabre's.

"To (stud director) Liam O'Rourke and really the guys behind the scenes, what is a magnificent blue army on days like this, we've got to be so grateful and when horses can come off the plane of his calibre, we know that we're cooking with gas.

"While he hasn't won a heap of races since he's been here, we've worked out a few things with him. I'm really lost for words how remarkable it to have this horse finally get up and win one of these big grand finals."

Five-time Group 1 winner New Approach, also the sire of Derby hero Masar, has shuttled to Australia in his time and stands for a private fee at Dalham Hall this year.

Jakkalberry, a real globetrotter for the Botti family who died at stud in New Zealand three years ago, had easily his biggest success as a stallion when the Kiwi import Explosive Jack continued on his upward curve for Ciaron Maher and David Eustace in the Australian Derby.
