Like spotting someone in the street that you’re sure you once knew, there are some sets of colours that need a second look to make absolutely certain that the eyes are not up to their old tricks.
It will have been the case for many who happened to be idly watching Aintree a few days ago, where the light blue and red silks of 1989 Grand National winner Little Polveir were unmistakeable aboard Gazette Bourgeoise in the bumper.
Those with vivid memories of that same era might have recently noticed another set which have been mainly out of sight, if not completely out of mind given the stature of the horse who once carried them.
