Pholas may have been considered the outsider for the All-Weather Fillies' And Mares' Championship event at Lingfield but the George Boughey-trained daughter of Iffraaj has a pedigree to go with her valuable win.

The four-year-old is a homebred of the late Prince Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms and first appeared in the famous green and pink silks before changing hands to Hurworth Bloodstock and a partnership for 18,000gns at the Tattersalls August Horses in Training Sale last year.

She was bought back by Boughey when failing to sell for 10,500gns at last month's Tattersalls February Sale and has moved from The Baltimore Partnership to the pink colours of The Pholas Partnership.

Pholas is the second foal out of the winning Oasis Dream mare Scallop - a sister to five winners and out of the Yorkshire Oaks winner and St Leger runner-up Quiff, a daughter of Sadler's Wells and 1,000 Guineas victress Wince.

A typically outstanding Juddmonte family, Quiff is also a full-sister to Chester Vase runner-up Arabian Gulf and Queen's Vase third Total Command. Also third in the Ribblesdale Stakes, Quiff - like Scallop and her two full-siblings - was trained by Sir Michael Stoute.

Pholas made her first two starts for Amanda Perrett before switching to Boughey last September. Winner of a Class 5 handicap at Newcastle in January, she since followed up with two more wins at Newcastle before landing her biggest payday at Lingfield.

Scallop has a two-year-old Tamayuz colt named Amusium, while she produced a Time Test colt last year. She is currently carrying to Bated Breath.
