Best of German breeding to go under the hammer in Baden-Baden on Friday
Well-connected son of Kingman looks bound to have plenty of suitors
The best of German breeding will be available to buy at the BBAG Yearling Sale in Baden-Baden on Friday, with 201 lots on offer after withdrawals.
There are 21 colts and fillies by Soldier Hollow, arguably German's most prestigious sire, available including colts out of stakes scorers Nouvelle Neige (from Gestut Gorlsdorf) and Quaduna (from Gestut Fahrhof) and a half-brother to Group 2 winner Shimrano (from Gestut Brummerhof).

Soldier Hollow is by In The Wings, who was also responsible for another of Germany's most respected sires at present, Adlerflug. He has 11 lots in the catalogue including a half-sister to Deutsches Derby runner-up Enjoy Vijay.
It is likely the progeny of international sires who will be of most interest to the many visitors descending on the spa town of Baden-Baden this week, though, and the sale includes progeny of Acclamation, Camelot, Dawn Approach, Gleneagles, Golden Horn, Harzand, Iffraaj, Lope De Vega, New Approach, New Bay, Night Of Thunder, Oasis Dream, Sea The Stars, Teofilo, Wootton Bassett and Zoffany.
Golden Horn is represented by a half-brother to recent Preis der Diana heroine Diamanta, while Lope De Vega's sole delegate to Baden-Baden is a three-parts sister to German 1,000 Guineas winner Akua'Da. Brummerhof consign both.
The one who looks to have 'top lot' written all over him, though, is Gestut Rottgen's Kingman colt who is the first foal out of Weltmacht, a Listed-winning and Group 2-placed half-sister to the high-class filly Wild Coco. He is the only chance to buy a youngster by the white hot stallion in Baden-Baden this year.
The question will be whether German vendors, many of them owner-breeders whose operations do not live or die by sale-ring results, will let go of their most cherished lots for what bidders are prepared to pay.
We will find out when the auction gets under way at 10am local time (9am BST) on Friday.
