Beautifully bred son of Dubawi a new recruit for Gurteen Stud
Sassofortino is out of Carla Bianca from a top-class Moyglare family
Sassofortino, a son of Dubawi and the Group 3 winner Carla Bianca, will begin his stallion career at the Brazil family's Gurteen Stud in County Offaly.
The unraced three-year-old is a striking grey from another outstanding Moyglare Stud family. His dam won four stakes races and was fourth in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at two and is a Dansili half-sister to Listed-winning sprinter Joailliere, who is by Dubawi. Joailliere is the dam of Reve De Vol, by Siyouni, who won the Listed Orby Stakes and has been placed at Group 2 and 3 level.
Second dam Majestic Silver is an unraced daughter of Linamix and has produced seven winners from as many runners. She is a half-sister to the Curragh Cup and Ballyroan Stakes winner Profound Beauty, who was also second in the Irish St Leger.
They are out of the Listed Finale Stakes winner Diamond Trim, a Highest Honor half-sister to Ribblesdale Stakes winner and Prix de l'Opera runner-up Irresistible Jewel. That Danehill mare is the dam of Irish St Leger winner Royal Diamond and Princess Highway, who emulated her dam by winning the Ribblesdale.
The family descends from the Fappiano mare Aptostar, who won the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes and was purchased by the late Stan Cosgrove for Moyglare Stud at Fasig-Tipton in 1989.
Sassofortino has a year older sister named Emilie Gray, who won her maiden by eight and a half lengths at Galway last summer for Dermot Weld and Moyglare Stud. Carla Bianca has a yearling filly by No Nay Never and was covered by Wootton Bassett last spring.
Her son will stand alongside Urban Poet at Gurteen Stud at a fee of €1,500 for colts, with concessions for filly foals.
