Bande, an Authorized half-brother to Doctor Dino, to stand in France
Haras de la Haie Neuve welcomes Japanese Classic performer
National Hunt breeders have gained access to some outstanding bloodlines with the arrival of Bande to stand at Haras de la Haie Neuve in Brittany, France.
The nine-year-old is by Derby hero Authorized, the sire of dual Grand National winner Tiger Roll who formerly stood at Haras du Logis in Normandy but has just been sold to the Turkish Jockey Club.
He is also a half-brother to multiple top-level winner Doctor Dino, the source of stars La Bague Au Roi, Master Dino and Sharjah and believed to be standing at a record fee for a jumps sire in 2020, priced at €16,000 at Haras du Mesnil.
Bande was bred by Kildaragh Stud out of the winning Priolo mare Logica and was sold to owner Masamichi Hayashi for €140,000 at the Arqana August Yearling Sale in 2011.
He won five of his 12 starts in Japan, with his peak performances coming when third to Epiphaneia in the country's St Leger at three and winning the Listed Sapporo Nikkei Open at four.
Bande had covered a small number of mares for his owner in Japan, but has been bought by a syndicate who will support him at Haie Neuve.
The stud's Tangi Saliou said: “He's a very good-looking horse, well-balanced, and you can see why he made €140,000 as a yearling. He may not have covered many mares in Japan but his early progeny have been magnificent.”
Bande will stand at Haie Neuve alongside Magneticjim, Seahenge, Taj Mahal and Whitecliffsofdover with a fee to be announced in due course.
