Another Jonbon or Classic Getaway? We'll find out as Goffs UK returns to Yorton
Point-to-point sale confirmed for Thursday, December 2
Following two highly successful point-to-point sales at Yorton Farm last year, at which the £570,000 world record price for a pointer was achieved twice, Goffs UK has announced a return to the proven venue for the Goffs UK P2P Sale on Thursday, December 2.
The Goffs UK Yorton Sale, which made its debut in 2019, paved the way for Yorton Farm to establish itself as a popular select sale venue and that prompted Goffs UK to host two new P2P sales in the autumn last year.
Both sales proved a huge success, with the November Sale achieving a turnover in excess of £3 million and a new world record price for a point-to-pointer, with Ellmarie Holden’s Jonbon selling to JP McManus for £570,000.
The December Sale then matched the world record, with Donnchadh Doyle’s Classic Getaway selling to Tom Malone and Gordon Elliott for £570,000. In all, the two auctions sold 73 horses for a total of more than £5m – with 11 pointers making six-figure sums.
Goffs UK managing director Tim Kent said on the return of the December P2P Sale: "Yorton Farm is now a proven sales venue, and we are delighted to be bringing the P2P sales concept back to Yorton in 2021. Two world record prices of £570,000 were achieved at Yorton in 2020 and both horses, Jonbon and Classic Getaway, have gone on to make a big impression when effortlessly winning their debut bumpers for new connections.
“As ever, we would like to thank James and Jean Potter plus David Futter and the Yorton team for welcoming us back to their home. David and his team played a huge part in the success of the sales last year and we were delighted for him that the Yorton Sale held by Goffs in September this year was such a huge success."
He added: "We look forward to working with the Yorton team over the coming weeks before welcoming the National Hunt world to Welshpool on Thursday, December 2.”
