Starspangledbanner’s re-emergence as a highly credible stallion continues at pace after he sired his first Irish two-year-old winner of the new European season at Navan.

Dogged by fertility issues and assorted complications since his flying first crop in 2014, which included Royal Ascot winners The Wow Signal and Anthem Alexander, the classy dual hemisphere sprinter found his fortunes take a turn for the better when sent to Anthony Mithen’s Rosemont Stud in Victoria, Australia.

He covered 123 mares in 2017 and then 152 in 2018, with the promise also leading to the circle being completed by last week’s announcement that he would shuttle to Rosemont Stud once again.

British racecourses have already received Starspangledbanner juvenile winners in the twice-unbeaten Archie Watson filly Lady Kermit and Godolphin’s Chasing Dreams, who looked another filly with a future in winning at Newmarket’s Craven meeting.

Runners closer to his home at Coolmore Stud have been thinner on the ground to date with Fozzy Stack’s American Lady finishing second at Tipperary on Thursday and it was that same trainer who provided his lift-off via the topically-named Back To Brussels in the BetVictor Bet 5 Euros Get 30 Euros Offer Irish EBF Fillies Maiden.

A €105,000 purchase from the Castlebridge Consignment at Goffs Orby, the chestnut is a half-sister to K Club, who was off the mark on debut for Richard Hannon last year and has developed into a Listed performer for her new German connections.

Back To Brussels finished fastest and widest of all to take the five-furlong affair by three-quarters of a length from the already raced Feminista.

The prospect of Starspangledbanner’s Classic Dreams also received an immediate boost early in the afternoon at Salisbury when Due Diligence filly Good Vibes, who had finished five lengths second at Newmarket, defied evident inexperience to pip previous winner and red-hot favourite Exclusively in the Byerley Stud Fillies' Conditions Stakes.

Starspangledbanner continues to stand at Coolmore for what is now looking a value fee of €17,500.
