Aidan O'Brien's homebred filly becomes US Navy Flag's first foal
Son of War Front landed three Group 1s during his time at Ballydoyle
Having prepared US Navy Flag to win three Group 1s, Aidan O'Brien has hit another milestone with the son of War Front as the master trainer and his wife, Annemarie, have bred the Coolmore resident's first foal.
The new arrival was born on January 2, and O'Brien said: "She is a smashing filly with a lovely head and she is very much in the mould of her sire. It's great to have such a good foal out of a maiden mare."
The filly is out of Far Fetched, an unraced Fastnet Rock half-sister to the Listed-winning Arya Tara and from the family of Group 1 scorers Azamour, Astarabad and The Autumn Sun. Far Fetched was one of 119 mares among US Navy Flag's debut book, which were covered at a fee of €25,000.
US Navy Flag, whose fee has been clipped into €17,500 by Coolmore for 2020, boasts an exceptional race record and the pedigree to match.
He landed two Group 1s during an 11-race two-year-old campaign, namely the Dewhurst Stakes, which he won in record time, and Middle Park Stakes. He returned at three to win the Group 1 July Cup.
Not only is US Navy Flag by a sire of sires, he is out of Galileo's four-time Group 1-winning daughter Misty For Me, who landed the Moyglare Stud Stakes, Prix Marcel Boussac, Irish 1,000 Guineas and Pretty Polly Stakes.
This breeding makes US Navy Flag a full-brother to another multiple Group 1 winner in Roly Poly, who won the Falmouth Stakes, Prix Rothschild and Sun Chariot Stakes.
