Jackpot De Choisel, a winning son of Great Pretender, topped the inaugural Auctav National Hunt Sale at Haras des Rouges Terres on Wednesday when making €200,000 to Cecile Adonias of CAVA Associates.

Consigned by Haras de Fresneaux, the April-born three-year-old had won on his racecourse debut on the level at Royan in early August for trainer Jean-Philippe Dubois and owner Ecurie Victoria Dreams.

He is out of the Sageburg mare Best Of Choisel, who is a half-sister to the Ian Williams-trained Grade 2-placed winning hurdler Barbatos and Pierrot Bay, a smart performer in France whose wins included the Listed Prix Wild Risk.

Adonias said of her purchase: "He has everything I was looking for, the conformation and the pedigree. We were looking for a bumper horse for John McConnell and we are happy that we bought this one for an existing client of his."

The second highest lot of the day came from the first horse to enter the ring in Haras de Clairefontaine's yearling filly by Haras de la Tuilerie's exciting young sire Masked Marvel. She sold to agent and trainer Nicolas Bertran de Balanda for €95,000.

The February-born filly is out of the Listed-winning and Grade 1-placed hurdler Kapkiline, a daughter of Kapgarde from the high-class family of Grade 1 Prix Ferdinand Dufaure winner Kotkikova and Grade 1 Prix Cambaceres scorer Kotkita.

Bertran de Balanda said: “She is an exceptional filly with an equally remarkable model and pedigree, with a promising stallion and a Group 1-placed dam. This explains her price! She will later go into training with Francois Nicolle."

An international range of buyers for the young jumping stock included the Bleahen Brothers, John Lalor's Carrigeen Bloodstock and Jamie and Lucy Snowden, who picked up the well-related Beaumec De Houelle filly La Marquise for €29,000 through agent Toby Jones.

With 56 per cent of the lots selling at an average of €23,100, the turnover came to €1,433,300.
