Quality Road bounces back as fee returns to $200,000 level
Lane's End releases fees and roster for 2023, with Flightline future undecided
Strong results on the racetrack and in sales ring have elevated Quality Road's stud fee to $200,000 for the 2023 breeding season, Lane's End announced along with the release of its full roster and fees for next year.
Quality Road, a 16-year-old son of Elusive Quality, returns to the fee level he reached in 2020, the year after he was the leading North American sire by number of Grade 1 winners.
This year he is the second-leading sire by progeny earnings as of Friday and has been represented by four Graded stakes winners, including Group 1 Saudi Cup winner Emblem Road and Grade 1 New York Stakes winner Bleecker Street.
At sales, he is the second-leading yearling sire (among those with three or more sold) with a $516,667 average and has been represented by eight that sold for more than $1 million.
Quality Road has sired 61 career black-type winners, of which 32 have won Graded or Group stakes. His elite runners include Eclipse champions Abel Tasman, Caledonia Road and Corniche.
Lane's End announced in September that undefeated anticipated Breeders' Cup Classic favourite Flightline will stand at the farm at the conclusion of his racing career. Whether the son of Tapit is retired this year or races at five will be decided after the Breeders' Cup.
