Sixty-five different stallions have sired a two-year-old stakes winner in Europe in 2022, from late greats Deep Impact and Galileo, confirmed heavyweights like Dubawi and No Nay Never, and international celebrities such as Heart’s Cry and Quality Road.
A stakes winner is an important marker of quality for any stallion, but they are particularly significant for those fielding their first crop of runners. After an action-packed October, 11 of this year’s freshmen are among the select band of 65 stallions whose juveniles have hit the mark in black-type company.
As has been the case when other metrics have been examined throughout this series, Whitsbury Manor Stud’s Havana Grey stands out from the crowd with some deeply impressive statistics.
