The 2011 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf winner Wrote sired his second individual stakes winner on Saturday when progressive four-year-old daughter Wrote To Arataki won the Group 3 Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes at Sandown, Australia.

The New Zealand-based Highview Stud stallion's winner is trained by Warrnambool-based Matthew Williams, while Wrote himself ran for Aidan O'Brien and the Coolmore partners.

By High Chaparral out of the Green Desert mare Desert Classic, Wrote was bred by Speers Bloodstock Ltd and purchased by MV Magnier for 145,000gns at Tattersalls October Book 2 in 2010.

He won a Cork maiden on his second start under Joseph O'Brien, followed up in a Galway nursery under the same rider, and was then third behind Daddy Long Legs in the Royal Lodge Stakes.

His career highlight came next, when, partnered by Ryan Moore, he beat 13 rivals in the Breeders' Cup contest at Churchill Downs.

Wrote placed a couple of times in Group 2s at three and was given a crack at the Irish 2,000 Guineas, finishing seventh behind stablemate Power at the Curragh.

Wrote To Arataki, under Jamie Kah, won by a long neck on Saturday from Belle Et Riche and Forbidden City. Contesting her first race at stakes level, the Kiwi import was backing up a victory over seven furlongs at Flemington on New Year’s Day.

“It is a fair transition that she has made but you just get horses like that who can take those steps and she has got a bit of confidence out of winning,” said Williams.

“She used to get a bit stirry on raceday but she is now a bit more relaxed about it. She has always had ability and we always thought it was there but six months ago we didn’t think we would be winning a Group 3 race and we are rapt to have it now.”

Wrote To Arataki could now contest the Group 3 Frances Tressady Stakes on February 18, while the Group 3 Mannerism Stakes at Sandown is also a possibility.

“We will see what Jamie thinks,” said Williams. “If she could go a bit further then there are probably a couple of mile races as well … This is as good as we could have her and she has done a great job. I have got to thank Phill Cataldo over in New Zealand who sources these horses for us and all the team at home.”

Wrote To Arataki was switched to the Williams stable off the back of a trial effort at Cambridge. She is the first foal out of dual winner Galloping Gerte, herself the only foal out of Miss Reset. Galloping Gerte has an unnamed two-year-old filly named Ring Jessie, also by Wrote.

Yearlings by Wrote, who stands for a fee of NZ$5,000 (£2,600/€2,900), sold up to $75,000 during Book 2 of the NZB National Yearling Sale earlier this week, with Williams and Cataldo pairing to secure a filly by Wrote out of the Montjeu mare Montwest for NZ$45,000.
