Fight preview

Ryan Garcia makes a swift return to the ring in his pursuit of a world title in the early hours of Sunday morning. The Flash was due to be facing Javier Fortuna last year and that would have seen Garcia's WBC interim lightweight title on the line.

However, the Californian was forced to pull out of that contest and he was subsequently stripped of the belt. Joseph Diaz stepped into Garcia's shoes, defeated Fortuna for the title, and a year later we get to see the fight that should have been.

Fortuna is a former two-weight world champion but the Dominican put in a pretty woeful display in defeat to Diaz. It's no surprise to see Garcia heavily fancied to win this contest but there are some concerns.

The now retired Luke Campbell was an excellent boxer, but he didn’t carry any real power and it’s a worry that Cool Hand Luke was able to floor Garcia heavily when they clashed last year. The inactivity of the Californian is also a worry, but on the plus side Garcia is a heavy-hitting, talented and exciting fighter.

The total rounds line has been set at 7.5, and given the make up of the fight, it could pay to get low of that mark.
