Verdict

Rangers captain James Tavernier has had an outstanding season and looks a strong man-of-the-match candidate when the Gers take on Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League final.

The Seville showpiece is a huge occasion for both finalists, who have performed way above expectations in a fiercely competitive competition.

Some huge clubs have fallen by the wayside, including Bundesliga heavyweights Borussia Dortmund and Leipzig, who were given a first-hand taste of Tavernier's ability.

The Gers skipper starred against Dortmund, scoring the opening goal in a 4-2 first-leg win in Germany and bagging a double in the 2-2 draw that followed at Ibrox.

And he came to the fore in the second leg of the semi-final at home to Leipzig, scoring the opening goal in an outstanding 3-1 success.

Tavernier is the Europa League's leading scorer this season with seven goals and finished top of the Scottish Premiership assist table with 13 – three more than his nearest challengers.

The 30-year-old has shown himself to be a big-game player and it would be no great surprise if he delivered the goods again in in the final.

With the added incentive of Champions League qualification for the winner, there is much at stake for both clubs and it seems likely that Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic could become a busy man.

One of Eintracht Frankfurt's main challenges will be to try and protect their injury-hit defence and combative Swiss midfielder Djibril Sow looks the man most likely to get his hands dirty.

Sow has been carded twice in the Europa League knockout stage and looks a spot of value to find his way into Vincic's notebook.
