Fight previews

The brilliant Katie Taylor returns to the ring on Saturday night to defend her four world lightweight titles against Elizabeth Carabajal.

The Bray Bomber is back after a fantastic victory against Amanda Serrano in April but this contest is unlikely to be as thrilling. Taylor is a 1-25 shot and that is a telling indication of how this fight is likely to pan out.

Jordan Gill defends his European featherweight crown against Kiko Martinez on the undercard in what is a much more interesting betting heat.

The Thrill saw off Karim Guerfi to claim the European title in a fight in which the Huntingdon fighter looked out on his feet in before finding a single-shot ninth-round knockout.

That was a remarkable recovery from Gill, but it shone a light on the his vulnerability and the 28-year-old was also beaten by Mario Tinoco in 2019.

Martinez is a former featherweight and super-bantamweight world champion and it was only last year that La Sensacion upset Kid Galahad to win the IBF featherweight belt.

The Spaniard gave Josh Warrington a difficult time in their first fight and while Martinez has 11 defeats on his card, they have generally all come against top-level opponents.

La Sensacion is no stranger to a shock and at 10-3 he could land another on Saturday night.

The latest instalment of Jake Paul's boxing career sees the YouTuber get it on with MMA star Anderson Silva in Glendale, Arizona.

Silva is a UFC legend and is the longest reigning champion in the organisation's history. However, he has minimal boxing experience and turned 47 in April.

A win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr reads well for the Brazilian-born veteran, but it's not hard to question the Mexican's motivation or conditioning in that fight.

Paul may not enjoy the physical advantage in this 185lbs catchweight contest that he has in his five previous bouts, but the American has 22 years on his aged opponent which could prove decisive.
