Match preview

Aston Villa have not made it past the third round of the FA Cup since 2016 but it would be one of the upsets of the century were the Villans to come a cropper against League Two Stevenage.

There is a cautious optimism building at Villa Park and given their relatively stable Premier League position, a tilt at Wembley glory is certainly not out of the question.

New boss Unai Emery is a master in cup competitions having won three successive Europa League titles with Sevilla and the same trophy with Villarreal in 2021.

The Spaniard will no doubt shuffle his pack and that is likely to bring Philippe Coutinho into the mix. The Brazilian has largely been confined to the bench under Emery and while he hasn't exactly lit up the Premier League this term, performing against a League Two backline is an entirely different story.

Back the former Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern Munich man to get on the the scoresheet against Boro.

Key stat

Aston Villa began the weekend 59 places above Stevenage on the pyramid.
