Anthony Joshua v Robert Helenius predictions

Anthony Joshua returns to the ring on Saturday night for the first time since an unconvincing April win over Jermaine Franklin as he takes on late replacement Robert Helenius at London's O2 Arena.

Joshua had been due to step up his preparations for a December meeting with Deontay Wilder by facing old foe Dillian Whyte but that fight was cancelled last weekend after Whyte failed a voluntary drugs test.

Taking on Helenius at short notice is far from ideal for the two-time heavyweight world champion. The 39-year-old Finn is an experienced pro but on paper shouldn’t pose any serious problems for Joshua, who is under pressure to put in a performance.

Wilder made his own comeback against Helenius after losing the final chapter of his trilogy with Tyson Fury and claimed a first-round knockout. That sets a benchmark for Joshua in some respect, but he has been more methodical in his approach in recent time, so seems unlikely to come out all guns blazing even if he is widely expected to finish this contest early.

Taking that into account, the middle rounds look a strong option as a potential end point for this fight and backing AJ to win in rounds four to six appeals most.
