It has taken just over a decade for Newgate Farm to sprout from little more than a patch of grass and a pipe dream into an Australian colossus, hitting the top end among consignors and hosting a roster of the country’s fastest young stallions.
Reaching such targets has required expertise and no shortage of ambition, with the restless nature of managing director Henry Field and his team of partners and shareholders meaning they now have an eye trained upon success outside their established jurisdiction.
A deal to buy into State Of Rest in the days following his victory in last October’s Cox Plate has been vindicated by further Group 1 glory in both the Prix Ganay and Prince of Wales’s Stakes, giving the visiting contingent not only one of the days of their lives at Royal Ascot but a viable shuttle stallion prospect with opportunities to enhance his CV still remaining.
