The first live TV action of 2022 should be a cracker as AFC West leaders Kansas City Chiefs head to Ohio to take on the ­­­top team in the AFC North, Cincinnati.

The Bengals have been inconsistent over the past few weeks but were extremely impressive in demolishing the Ravens 41-21, and they should have what it takes to at least run the Chiefs close.

Yes, the Ravens were forced to play Josh Johnson at QB in that game after their top two playmakers were ruled out, but the Bengals offence looked to be in a different stratosphere as Joe Burrow posted 525 passing yards, two receivers topped 125 receiving yards, and Joe Mixon recorded 135 scrimmage yards.

Cincinnati have endured some bumps in the road, but they are starting to show that they belong in the playoffs and have been presented with the perfect opportunity to show it against the 2020 Super Bowl champions.

The Bengals boast the most passing yards per attempt in the league (8.7) with Burrow boasting a better completion percentage than Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs’ passing offence speaks for itself, and Mahomes is likely to have another big game with Travis Kelce returning, but they have looked fragile at times and Mahomes showed that he hadn’t quite put his bad spell behind him when making a number of mistakes a couple of weeks ago against the Chargers.

Kansas’s class may tell, but giving a five-point start to the Bengals in their own backyard will be no easy feat.
