Land Force repels adversaries to secure rare Richmond triumph for O'Brien
With the depth of talent at his disposal there are few major two-year-old prizes in which Aidan O'Brien has not enjoyed significant success – but the Qatar Richmond Stakes was one of them.
The Ballydoyle trainer's only previous win in the Group 2, with Pyrus in 2000, was achieved only following the disqualification of first-past-the-post Endless Summer, who was subsequently found to have been ineligible to run.
It fell to Land Force to break the deadlock as the Norfolk Stakes third held off Marie's Diamond and Shine So Bright to take the contest, 24 hours after Norfolk Stakes fourth Rumble Inthejungle had captured the Molecomb.
