'Odds of 13-2 are very generous, if the gaps open he wins' - David Jennings answers the big questions ahead of Sunday's action

What’s the big story?

Sunday evenings are about to get a lot spicier, even if it's not your night for a curry.

The Sky Bet Sunday Series kicks off at Musselburgh with seven, yes SEVEN, races live on ITV4. It is the first of six meetings in the series, with Newmarket (May 18), Chelmsford City (June 1), Hamilton (June 15), Haydock (August 10) and York (September 7) still to come.

Since the series began in 2021, £4m in additional prize-money has been given away and there will be £100,000 to the connections of the first horse to win three races across the series.

What's the best bet of the Sunday Series at Musselburgh?

It will be a case of closing your eyes and praying the gaps open for Zarzyni from stall 16 in the 5f handicap (4.45), but if he does get daylight when he needs it down the nearside rail, he should be bang there off a mark of 78.

He's only 3lb higher than his last winning mark over course and distance and his recent return at Newcastle was presumably a pipe-opener for this.

Odds of 13-2 are very generous, especially if you can get four places each-way. He won't be far away and, if the gaps open, he might just win.

Anything else for us at Musselburgh?

Gweedore is back on grass but, far more importantly, back at Musselburgh where he has form figures of 5211523112231.

If that's not a course specialist, I don't know what is, and he ought to take the world of beating off a sliding mark of 90 in the 7f handicap (6.45) from stall two with Jason Hart booked.

What’s the best bet in Ireland?

That's Nastya in the opening 2m4f mares maiden hurdle (1.55) at Down Royal.

It looks a straight shootout between the Henry de Bromhead-trained mare and Getaways Charm, but I much prefer the form of my fancy who bumped into mares' novices' hurdle winner at the Cheltenham Festival, Air Of Entitlement, over this course and distance at Christmas with the smart Ballybow sandwiched in between them.

A repeat of that would surely be good enough.
