The Punchestown fixture which was due to be held on Sunday has been rescheduled for Tuesday after Storm Ciara wreaked havoc across Britain and Ireland.

Sunday's meeting was postponed after 26mm of rain overnight and a further 27mm between 8am and 9am, which led to flash flooding leaving some sections of the track waterlogged.

Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board communications manager Niall Cronin said on Sunday evening: "Punchestown's clerk of the course Brendan Sheridan will check out the course in the morning and we'll know more then."

Original entries for the seven-race card remain with fresh declarations at 10am on Monday.

In Britain, Exeter and Southwell both had to cancel their Sunday meetings due to high winds.

Storm Ciara has also put paid to Catterick on Monday and Lingfield on Tuesday after both courses experienced flooding, while Plumpton's Monday card is subject to an 8am inspection due to heavy rain.

Catterick was forced to cancel its meeting after the river Swale, which runs alongside the racecourse, burst its banks, resulting in the flooding of on-site stables.

Lingfield cancelled its meeting on Sunday morning, after clerk of the course, George Hill, said the waterlogged track had “no chance of improvement”.

There is no inspection planned for Wolverhampton's all-weather card on Monday, which could be the day's only meeting if Plumpton fails its inspection.

None of Tuesday's remaining meetings at Ayr, Chelmsford and Newcastle is subject to inspection at this stage.
