Un De Sceaux has run the last race of his career and what a career it was. If the term 'one-off' can be applied to a racehorse then that is what he was. He wore his heart on his sleeve and gave everything, not only on the racecourse but also at home on the gallops.

He retires at the age of 12 as a ten-time Grade 1 winner over fences and the winner of 23 races, including eight of his nine starts over hurdles.

We were planning to send him back to the Cheltenham Festival, where he won an Arkle and a Ryanair Chase, for either the Champion Chase or the Ryanair.
